The conference will be held in San Andres Island, Colombia.
The Island of San Andres is located in the Caribbean, 720 kilometres northwest of the Colombian mainland. With an area of 26 km², it is the the largest island of an archipelago composed by the islands of San Andres, Providencia, Santa Catalina and a series of cays and smaller islands.

Some natural accidents of the island are:

  • Bays: San Andrés, Haynes, Sound, Sprat y Southwest Cove.
  • Peaks: North, South, Old y Evans.
  • Cays: Cotton Cay, Rocky Cay, Rose Cay, Haynes Cay, Johnny Cay.

The Caribbean seat of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia is located in the San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina archipelago, fulfilling its main missions of forming citizens as professionals, deepening their knowledge through the offer of postgraduate courses in the area of Marine Biology and strengthening the scientific capacity of the region. The research and extension topics are developed at the Institute of Caribbean Studies, the Botanical Garden and CECIMAR.
